Laying foundations for future careers at Barclay Street !

Springburn Academy Glasgow school pupils laid the foundations for their future careers with a day helping out at a construction site. Ten S4 students from Springburn Academy tried out their skills at the Loretto Housing site at Barclay Street opposite their school. The pupils, who are all working towards a Construction Skills Certificate (CSC) qualification, tried their hands at bricklaying and plaster boarding on site. The visit was arranged as part of a 12-week programme developed by McTaggart’s Community Benefit Officer to help students gain practical skills and experience needed to get ahead in their career through tutoring, career support and hands-on experience on the site. Meet our new apprentices

McTaggart Construction have taken on three new trade apprentices. The boys, aged 17-20 years old, will join the North Ayrshire company’s training and development programme which seeks to grow young talent and facilitate long-term career development opportunities to support the growth of the business. North Ayrshire residents, Ben Walker from Irvine and Bradley McMartin from Kilwinning, both 17 years old, have started following work placements within McTaggart Construction’s Customer Care division. Atrium Homes provides housing boost for Shortlees

Work to deliver new affordable homes at the former BISF demolition site in Shortlees, Kilmarnock for registered social landlord Atrium Homes is now underway. The £4.25 million investment, which is being delivered by McTaggart Construction Ltd of Dalry, will see a total of 43 quality, affordable homes added to the Shortlees area. The units will consist of highly sought after property types including family, elderly and single person units. Work begins at Parkhead Veterans Garden

Parkhead Housing Association (PHA) has announced the beginning of work at the site of a new Parkhead Veterans Garden. The project, led by Playbusters with support from PHA, McTaggart Construction and Wheatley Group, will see an unused area transformed into a fantastic space for local veterans. The garden will be situated on the vacant land in Parkhead between 160,170 and 180 Tollcross Road back court area and the old Parkhead Bus Garage. The garden itself will include a seating area where the veterans can to reflect on their time in the forces with like minded individuals. Housing minister opens Parkhead Housing Association’s Blackcat Studio site

Parkhead Housing Association welcomed minister for local government and housing Kevin Stewart MSP to Parkhead yesterday to open the Association’s latest development at the site of the old Blackcat Studios. The site, at the corner of Burgher Street, Dechmont Street and Springfield Road, will provide 36 new homes for the local community. This particular new build development will complete the corner, linking the Association’s development at Springfield Road with its houses at the end of Burgher Street. West Lothian project well under way

Progress is well underway on our project for West Lothian Council at Mill Road. These new homes which consist of eight cottage flats and seven houses are located on land adjacent to Mill Road in Linlithgow Bridge. The development includes four one-bed cottages flats, four two-bed cottage flats, four two-bed houses and one three-bed house. Officers from West Lothian Council’s housing, Customer and Building Services recently joined our Site Team onsite and said; “Our partnership with McTaggart Construction will provide attractive, well-designed modern homes for residents” These properties will be completed early 2017.
