McTaggart Construction is looking for a General Labourer to join our team on a new affordable housing development in Wallyford, East Lothian.
You’ll play an important part in keeping the site safe, organised and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with the site team, support tradespeople and help maintain high standards across the project.
What you’ll do
- Keep the site clean, tidy and safe for everyone working on it.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining site boundaries, barriers and pedestrian routes.
- Load, unload and move materials around the site.
- Support tradespeople and subcontractors with day-to-day tasks.
- Carry out general labouring duties, including lifting and moving materials and using basic hand tools.
- Help manage waste and follow recycling and segregation requirements.
- Maintain welfare facilities and communal areas.
- Follow site rules, procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents or site issues to the Site Manager.
- Support with the traffic management of the site.
What we’re looking for
- Applicants must have prior labouring experience in a construction environment.
- Good understanding of site health and safety requirements.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
- Able to follow instructions and work using your own initiative.
- Good timekeeping and attendance.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual tasks.
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and site equipment.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- First Aid qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Vehicle Marshal certification is desirable.
