Laying foundations for future careers at Barclay Street !

Springburn Academy Glasgow school pupils laid the foundations for their future careers with a day helping out at a construction site. Ten S4 students from Springburn Academy tried out their skills at the Loretto Housing site at Barclay Street opposite their school. The pupils, who are all working towards a Construction Skills Certificate (CSC) qualification, tried their hands at bricklaying and plaster boarding on site. The visit was arranged as part of a 12-week programme developed by McTaggart’s Community Benefit Officer to help students gain practical skills and experience needed to get ahead in their career through tutoring, career support and hands-on experience on the site. McTaggart Construction appointed to SPA’s H1 Framework

      Following a rigorous procurement exercise, McTaggart Construction has been appointed to the SPA (Scottish Procurement Alliance) H1 Framework for Housing Delivery. The framework has been developed to assist the Scottish Government’s target to deliver 50,000 new homes by 2021 and enables any publicly funded body in Scotland to appoint framework contractors directly or through mini-competition. Following a successful audit by an independent monitor from Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), we are delighted to announce that we have become a Registered Company. The visit was an opportunity to review our company performance against the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice, and ensure that the company is meeting the expectations of registration. It involved a detailed discussion around the relevant questions and prompts within the Monitors’ Checklist and a review of the company’s processes, policies and systems. The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image. Drumshoreland ‘Highly Commended’ by National Awards

Our project to design and build 86 new homes in Pumpherston for West Lothian Council has been recognised in a national awards ceremony in London. The Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards are internally nominated by Premier Guarantee Surveyors and all Premier Guarantee Registered developments are considered for the awards, with surveyors will be marking sites against set criteria during their warranty site inspections. Cadder goes on-site with its first new build housing development

Cadder Housing Association has commenced the development of 50 new homes for rent on the site of the former St. Agnes Primary School at Tresta Road in Cadder. The new housing development will provide a variety of house types and sizes, which will balance the Association’s stock portfolio and contribute towards Glasgow City Council’s City Plan. The development of high quality homes will cost £5.9 million and will be funded by Housing Association Grant of £3.7m through Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government and £2.2m by the Association. The new housing is scheduled for completion in November 2018.
