We’re shortlisted in three categories at the CIH Scotland Housing Awards

We’re delighted to share that McTaggart Construction has been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s CIH Scotland Housing Awards. The ceremony takes place on 13th November, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with housing professionals from across the sector.

Here’s a bit more about each of the shortlisted projects.

Excellence in Development for Affordable Housing – Altyre Street

Altyre Street is a 42-unit development in Glasgow’s East End, delivered for Tollcross Housing Association. Alongside the build itself, the project delivered real community benefit: 11 local placements with partner organisations including First Steps Future Training, Action for Children and Barnardo’s Works, two of whom went on to full-time roles as Trainee General Operatives. We also delivered 50 hours of educational input reaching over 950 students, ran a Business Growth Masterclass, and supported a wood recycling partnership.

One resident summed up the impact best:

“This has changed our lives. This home has given us something to look forward to. A garden and decorating my little girl’s room has given us so much happiness”.

Excellence in Regeneration and Sustainability – Johnstone Castle

Johnstone Castle is a 68-home development for Link Group, built on a challenging brownfield site in Renfrewshire. The scheme brings a mix of two-storey housing and cottage flats, alongside native planting and stronger woodland connections that help tie the new homes into the surrounding landscape. The project also generated significant social value, with work placements and partnerships including Street League West, Invest in Renfrewshire, Action for Children and Barnardo’s Works.

Excellence in Accessibility and Inclusion – Willox Park

Willox Park was delivered for West Dunbartonshire Council, built next to existing sheltered housing. Working within a live residential environment meant careful sequencing and close attention to accessibility and inclusive design throughout. That care paid off: West Dunbartonshire Council went on to instruct Phase 2, a strong vote of confidence in the quality delivered. As Dawn Conner, Housing Development Officer at West Dunbartonshire Council, put it, the approach was transparent and collaborative from start to finish.
