McTaggart Construction has gifted £25,000 to Beatson Cancer Charity, the final donation in its £80,000 giving programme launched to mark the company’s 80th anniversary.
The gift completes a year of giving that has also seen donations go to Crossbasket House and to Simon Community Scotland. Founded in 1946, McTaggart Construction chose to mark its milestone year by supporting three charities close to the communities it serves.
The donation to Beatson Cancer Charity will go towards the purchase of two chemotherapy chairs, as well as contributing towards their wellbeing services including complementary therapies, podiatry and befriending services, and the wellbeing centre. In addition, funding will go towards the wig purchasing and fitting service, as well as research and innovation projects – all part of the day-to-day care that makes a real difference to patients and their families throughout treatment.
Beatson Cancer Charity is one of Scotland’s leading cancer charities, supporting people affected by cancer and their families across the west of Scotland. The charity provides practical, emotional and financial support to help people through every stage of their cancer journey, while also investing in innovative research and improvements to cancer care. Through its work, Beatson Cancer Charity aims to ensure that no one in Scotland experiences cancer without care, without love and without hope.
Rosslyn Anderson, Director at McTaggart Construction commented: “Reaching our 80th anniversary gave us an opportunity to give something back to the communities that have been part of our journey, and making this donation to Beatson Cancer Charity is a fitting way to mark the culmination of our £80,000 community fund. Cancer touches so many families, including our own staff, their loved ones and friends, so we know this donation will make a real difference to patients and their families across the west of Scotland”.
Gillian Hailstones, Chief Executive Officer at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to McTaggart Construction for this generous £25,000 donation and for choosing Beatson Cancer Charity as the final recipient of its 80th anniversary giving programme. This fantastic gift will have a meaningful impact on people affected by cancer, helping us provide vital equipment and enhance the care, wellbeing and support available to patients and their families. From funding chemotherapy chairs to supporting our wellbeing services, complementary therapies and research and innovation, this donation will make a lasting difference to people when they need it most”.
